Before Sleep

She has nothing to offer those around her,
She only has herself.
So in that time between conscious thought and dream,
She decided.

She decided to love what her heart told her to love,
And she would hate not.
Listen with a tongue tight and a mind open,
And never cut her hair,
Unless she wanted to.

She knew if her cup was empty,
No one could fill it but her.
And you're never too old to take risks.

When she slipped the robe from her shoulders,
And stood naked with its folds at her feet,
She looked at herself and saw her beautiful life.
She thought about what she would do now,
How she would like to live now,
Oh how it pleased it now.

When she laid down, the curtains closed,
And there were many wonderous things to do.
There were rainbows to catch,
Castles to explore,
Princes with roses and kisses galore.

And when she awoke refreshed,
She started a new day.
She started to live.
That's just what she did.
